On behalf of Good Bourbon for a Good Cause, we would like to thank all who attended our First Annual Chili Cook Off on Sunday, January 16th, 2022.

The sold-out event was a great success, featuring a friendly chili-making competition, lipreve music from The Connor Stephens Band, and delicious cocktails— all benefiting GBGC and our subsequent initiatives. We’d like to give a special thanks to Governor Rick Perry and his wife, Anita, who served as judges in our chili cook off alongside Chef Jack of Garrison Brothers Distillery. And, our compliments to the Chef for bringing delicious appetizers such as chicken wing lollipops, chorizo-stuffed mushrooms, and a house-made Chex mix.

The winner of the chili cookoff, Suzanne Sweet, took home a bottle of Garrison Brothers Laguna Madre 2020 bourbon and the feeling of pride that comes from beating 14 other chili experts, including Dan Garrison himself. The winning chili blew the judges’ minds with its unique flavors and delicious ingredients, and had folks continuously coming back for more.

Our new merch made its first appearance at a tiny table on the ranch’s grounds. We sold GBGC merch for a discounted price and made more than $3k to support our good efforts.

We’d like to thank those who made this fantastic new tradition happen, both those who organized the event and those who attended. GBGC Mission Control Director Meghan McCamant said she had at least 20 different people approach her and ask about next year’s cookoff, and we hope to see some of you bring your chili A-game to the table in 2023!

The only complaint? Not enough bourbon! We went through a whopping 22 bottles of Garrison Brothers Bourbon while changing the world with it. We can’t wait for the next fundraising event, and hope to see even more guests next year.
